NSA INAUGURAL SHOW

*LUNCH BREAK WILL COMMENCE AT NOON-ISH*
1. In-Hand Pasture Ornament Open-Open to all sizes. To be lead in at a walk or trot & presented to the judge in a manner as to represent their type. To be judged on conformation, presence, and turnout.
2. Showmanship-Open to everyone. To be lead into the ring individually upon the
judges request. Each horse/human team will be required to perform a specific
pattern before the judge. Horses/ponies are to be represented to their type. To be
judged on presentation (cleanliness, grooming, attire, showmanship), accuracy in
pattern performance, precision.
3. Walk and Trot Pleasure-Open to all seats, sizes, and ages (to be split by age
if entries call). To be shown at a walk and jog/trot both directions (headers
allowed for anyone needing one). To be judged on manners (of both mount and
rider), smooth transitions, comfort (of both mount and rider), and communication
between mount and rider.
4. Park Type Driving-Open to all sizes and ages. To be shown at a walk,
trot, & extended trot both directions. To be judged on way of going, suitability,
presence, smooth transitions, & manners.
5. Saddleseat Country Pleasure-Open to all sizes and ages. To be shown at a
walk, trot, & canter both directions. To be judged on way of going, suitability,
smooth transitions, and manners.
6. Western & Ranch Pleasure-Open to all sizes and ages. To be shown at a walk, jog, & lope. To be judged on manners, smooth transitions, communication between mount and rider, and suitability.
7. Park Type 5-Gaited-Open to all Saddlebred types. To be shown at a walk, trot,
slowgait, rack, & canter both ways of the ring. To be judged on way of going,
suitability, gameness, presence, and speed.
8. Hunter Type Pleasure-Open to all sizes and ages. To be shown at a
walk, trot, extended trot, & canter both directions. To be judged on way of going,
suitability, smooth transitions, and manners.
9. Country Pleasure Driving-Open to all sizes and ages. To be shown at a walk,
relaxed walk, trot, & extended trot both ways of the ring. To be judged on manners, smooth transitions, suitability, and comfort.
10. Park Type 3 Gaited-Open to all Saddlebred types. To be shown at a walk, trot,
and canter both ways of the ring. To be judged on way of going with preference to
lofty/floating gaits, presence, and ease of performance. Speed to be penalized.
11. Driving Reinsmanship-Open to everyone. Drivers will enter the ring one at a time and perform a precise pattern. After all drivers have gone they will be asked back into the ring for award presentations. To be judged on driver skill, use of aids, control of horse/pony, accuracy, quality of transitions & gaits, and turnout.
12. Horsemanship-Open to all seats and ages. Riders will enter the ring one at a time and perform a precise pattern. After all riders have gone they will be asked back into the ring for award presentations. To be judged on rider skill, communication, ability to adapt, rider position, control, and accuracy. Scored 0-20 on each maneuver.
13. Show Hack-Open to well-schooled Dressage Type horses. To be shown on the rail at a collected walk, walk, extended walk, collected trot, trot, extended trot, collected canter, canter, extended canter. To be judged on presence & grace, suitability for Dressage, obedience, ease of transitions, definition in gaits, and overall appeal.
14. Almost Liberty Class-Open to all sizes & ages. To be shown on a lunge line or in long lines at whichever gait or gaits the horse/pony chooses to perform. Handlers may submit music to be played during the performance. Handlers have 2 minutes to allow their horse/pony to exhibit style, grace, energy, and possibly their own comedic or trick repertoire. To be judged on overall captivating performance.
15. Available For Adoption Class-Open to any rescue horse/pony/mule/donkey
available for adoption. To be In-hand, under saddle, or in harness and shown at a
walk only. Each animal must have a short paragraph stating their name, gender,
approximate age, best features, and what they need in a new human. There is no fee for this class and it is not judged.
16. Exhibitor’s Choice-This class will be determined by collected exhibitor responses. If you want a specific class offered this is your chance to speak up! Let us know what class you want and the majority vote will decide what class goes in this spot.
17. Costume-Open to all sizes & ages. To be shown at a walk only both ways of
the ring. To be judged on costume & creativity. Bonus points for horses & ponies
who appear happy to be wearing their costume.
18. Egg & Spoon Race-Open to everyone. Handlers/Riders will be given 2 eggs.
One egg is to be balanced on a spoon held by the handler. The other egg is packed by the horse/pony. Teams race from one side of the arena to the other collecting and depositing eggs into their baskets on each end. The team with the most unbroken
eggs in their basket at the end of 2 minutes wins!
19. In-Hand Barrel Racing-Open to everyone. Handlers will be timed while running a typical barrel pattern. The fastest clean run wins!
20. In-Hand Jousting-Open to all sizes and ages. Handlers, armed with a lance
(pool noodle) race to the end of the arena with their steed in tow while spearing
rings as they sprint their way through obstacles. The handler to finish the fastest
with the most rings wins.
21. Jousting Under Saddle-Open to all sizes and ages. Riders, armed with a lance
(pool noodle) race to the end of the arena while spearing rings with a pool noodle
as they sprint their way through obstacles. The rider/horse team to finish the fastest with the most rings wins!
*TRAIL & OBSTACLE ARENA*
22. In-Hand Trail-Open to all sizes and ages. Handlers will lead their equine partners through a series of obstacles that may include bridges, gates, water hazards, raised poles, crossrails, barrels, and other challenges while being asked to walk, trot, back, sidepass, and ground tie. To be judged by points awarded for each obstacle. 5 points per obstacle.
23. Walk/Trot Trail-Open to all sizes and ages. Riders will navigate a series of
obstacles that may include bridges, gates, water hazards, raised poles, crossrails, barrels, and other challenges while being asked to walk, trot, back, & sidepass. To be judged by points awarded for completing each obstacle. 5 points per obstacle.
24. Trail-Open to all sizes and ages. Riders will navigate a series
of obstacles that may include bridges, gates, water hazards, raised poles, crossrails, barrels, and other challenges while being asked to walk, trot, canter, back, & sidepass. To be judged by points awarded for completing each obstacle.
*Cannot cross enter with class 14.
25. Obstacle Driving-Open to all sizes and ages. Drivers will navigate through a
specified course which will include platform, cones, backing into an open square,
demonstrating pivot turns, serpentine through barrels, navigate an obstacle while driving with one hand, and other challenges while being asked to walk or trot. To be judged by points awarded for each obstacle.
26. Gambler’s Choice Obstacle-Open to everyone. If you have a horse who is great at some obstacles but tends to fall apart at others this is the class for you! This class is open to handlers, riders, and drivers. Each obstacle is given a score from 1-5 and exhibitors are given 2 minutes to earn as many points as possible. Some obstacles are more challenging or time consuming and will offer a higher score for proper completion.
